Aged care royal commission hears of staff shortages, cuts amid scandal over safety at Royal Melbourne Hospital

Staff shortages at the Royal Melbourne Hospital continue despite a royal commission which has heard claims that staff shortages are the result of the company’s ‘no nonsense’ approach to working conditions.

“That $19.5 million fund that comes with the budget is also targeted at making significant efficiencies,” Dr Smith said.

He stressed the hospital “is well on the path to achieving full employment” under the Victorian National Disability Insurance Scheme and an “unwavering commitment to patient safety”.
